This site is a tribute to Catherine MacLeod, who was born in Sywell on November 12, 1953. She grew up in Nigeria and the Isle of Harris, and lived most of her life on the Isle of Lewis.
Catherine was known and loved by many for her generous heart, ready smile, and endless lists. She was an active member of the community; working in the voluntary sector, contributing backstage with the Stornoway Thespians, and giving generously of her time to anyone in need.
Catherine leaves behind her husband of 43 years, Calum, her daughter and son-in-law Eilidh and Liam, and her beloved grandchildren Caitlin and Malcolm. Also a large extended family and many friends.
During the pandemic in 2020 she was diagnosed with CLL a form of leukaemia and died at Raigmore Hospital with Calum and Eilidh nearby. As was her wish, she will not have a traditional funeral, but a celebration of her life is planned for summer 2022 in her beloved Harris.
Catherine received extensive support from the team at WICCI and her family are grateful for any donations made in her memory.
We miss you so often Granny Catherine. I still struggle to comprehend your passing. Always in our hearts.
In memory of dear Catherine, our Bovey family bridesmaid, and wonderful friend for over 60 years. We too owe so much to her Bovey grandparents who took Clarisse and her brother Walter into their home from Germany in 1939. Howard and Clarisse
